A George III gold and split pearl memorial brooch. Designed as an oval-shape sepia panel depicting a weeping willow, a maiden and a tomb, with foliate and split pearl alternating rectangular-shape surrounds. Memorial inscription reads "Matthew Walker Died 21 Nov 1818 aged 63." AF. Length 4.5cms. Weight 21.4gms.

Purchasing information- Overall condition fair to poor. Surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear.
- Sepia panel with tomb and seed pearls broken and loose.
- Some hoops to the top of the brooch deficient and broken.
- Split pearls with slight yellowish white lustre.
- Discolouration to the reverse of the brooch.
- Some damage to reverse of brooch near pin.
- Fairly well saturated, with x clarity and typical inclusions.
- Personal inscription to reverse reads Matthew Walker / Died 21 Nov 1818 aged 63.
- Verse to reverse of brooch reads: O Father when the dying sigh / Escaped thy closing pallid life / Say did not angels linger nigh / To welcome thee in realms of bliss
