Condition Report

A mid Victorian 15ct gold garnet and split pearl ring. Designed as a circular-shape garnet trefoil, with split pearl highlights and scrolling shoulders. AF. Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1866. Ring size L. Weight 1.6gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Band split on one shoulder.

  • Evidence of repair to the inside of the band near the shoulder, with soft solder.
  • Garnets medium to fairly dark purplish-red, well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Split pearls white, with some pink overtones and fair lustre and surface blemishes visible under magnification.

  • Garnets vary in condition from fairly good to poor, with some abrasions and scratches, one has a fairly obvious chip to the edge visible with the naked-eye.
