A late Victorian gold, enamel and seed pearl bee brooch.

Condition Report

A late Victorian gold, enamel and gem-set bee brooch. The striped black enamel and old-cut diamond bee, atop a seed pearl terminal pin. Estimated total diamond weight 0.45ct, H-I colour, SI clarity. Length 5.6cms. Weight 4gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Two of the bees legs with losses.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Principal diamonds with small, scattered inclusions, one with small nick and associated abrasion.
  • Individual size and setting of smaller diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Enamel with some deep scratches and nicks.
  • Length of bee 1.5cms.
  • Cultured pearl shows slight discolouration.
  • Later safety clasp added.
