A late Victorian gold moonstone brooch, by Mrs Newman.

Condition Report

A late Victorian gold moonstone brooch. Of openwork design, the oval moonstone cabochon, within an oval moonstone cabochon quatrefoil and scrolling surround. Maker's marks for Mrs Newman. Length 3.4cms. Weight 5.6gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/ wear, slight discolouration and very minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Small rough patch to one of the outer moonstone mounts suggests possibilty of drop or surmount, now deficient.
  • Moonstones are a well matched pale, slightly whitish hue, with light blue and white adularescence.
  • Minor to moderate surface abrasion.
