Condition Report

An early twentieth century composite silver three piece tea service, including a teapot, twin-handled sugar bowl and cream jug, each of plain bellied form raised upon a circular stepped foot, the teapot with scroll capped wood handle and finial with engraved personal inscription beneath the base of the foot. The teapot hallmarked Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd., London 1919, the sugar bowl and cream jug hallmarked Boodle & Dunthorne, London 1929. Maximum height of teapot inclusive of finial measures 5 2/8 inches (13.5 cm). Gross weight 17.4 ozt (542.5 grams). 'Presented to Mr. H. Haughton Ward, by his colleagues in the Town Clerk's Department, Liverpool. on the occasion of his retirement after 38 years service. 31st October 1935.'

Purchasing information
    In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The teapot is engraved 'Presented to Mr. H. Haughton Ward, by his colleagues in the Town Clerk's Department, Liverpool. on the occasion of his retirement after 38 years service. 31st October 1935.' beneath the base of the foot. The foot of the teapot has become compressed towards the body causing it to appear misshapen and wobble, the fixture pins stick out slightly on the hinge and handle, the interior is significantly stained, would benefit from a clean, minor bumps and dents to the body, remnants of polish visible. The cream jug and sugar bowl are also marked 'Boodle & Dunthorne Lord St Liverpool' beneath the base of the foots. Hallmarks rubbed and worn but still legible.
