A tourmaline, demantoid garnet and diamond brooch.

Condition Report

A gem-set brooch. The early 20th century cushion-shape pink tourmaline with demantoid garnet and circular-shape diamond quatrefoil surround, suspended from a later 9ct gold bow. Estimated dimensions of tourmaline 12.5 by 9.3 by 6.4mms. Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1966. Length 4.5cms. Weight 4.6gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

  • Tourmaline slightly purplish-pink, well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions many of which can be seen with the naked-eye.

  • Demantoid bright medium green, well saturated, with good to fair clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Diamond fairly well matched.
  • Diamonds bright.

  • Estimated total diamond weight under 0.10ct.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.
