A late Victorian silver and gold, pearl and diamond spider brooch.

Description

Condition Report

A late Victorian silver and gold, pearl and diamond brooch. Designed as a spider, the baroque pearl body, with rose-cut diamond head and limbs. Length 3.4cms. Weight 7.8gms. Pearls untested.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • The brooch fitting is soft soldered to the body of the spider and both rotate slightly to the legs.
  • Wear to some mounts.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Individual cut, size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Pearls untested for natural origin.
  • The pearls are in closed back settings, unable to determine is the pearls have been shaped or damaged.
  • The pearls are a well matched creamy white hue with good lustre and significant surface pitting.
