Condition Report

A mid Victorian 14ct gold turquoise snake memorial brooch. Designed as a snake, with turquoise cabochon highlights and ruby eyes, coiled around a glazed hair panel. Length 4.6cms. Weight 7.4gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Possible replacement gems. Wear to some mounts.
  • Safety chain issuing from mouth is a later addition.
  • Glazed panel with lock of hair.
  • Glass with small nick and slight surface scratches.
  • Ruby eyes presumed foil back, appear a slightly pinkish red hue.
  • Turquoise are a medium blue through slightly greenish blue and green. One with small chip.
