Condition Report

An early 20th century opal and diamond cluster ring. The oval-shape black opal, with vari-cut diamond scalloped surround and replacement band. Estimated total diamond weight 0.70ct. Ring size Q. Weight 4.2gms.

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

  • Replacement band.

  • Some possible replacement gems.

  • Comprising single, old and brilliant-cut diamonds.

  • Diamonds fairly well matched.

  • Diamonds bright.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • One diamond chipped. Diamonds appear clean with some small minor inclusions under 10x magnification.

  • Opal has a dark body colour, with strong, predominantly green, blue and orange play-of-colour.

  • Approximate dimensions of opal 9 by 6.5mms.

  • Opal in good to fair condition with minor abrasions. Some chips and matrix visible to the reverse.

  • Stamped 18ct PLAT to band.

  • Length of ring head 1.6cms.
