A late Victorian gold and silver, ruby and diamond fox brooch.

Description

Condition Report

A late Victorian gold and silver diamond brooch. The pave-set diamond fox, with ruby eyes, atop a wishbone. Estimated total diamond weight 0.20ct. Length 4.5cms. Total weight 6.9gms.

Purchasing information

  • Overall condition good to fair. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

  • Probable replacement fittings, soft solder visible. Base metal pin.

  • Possible replacement gems.

  • Diamonds appear fairly bright. Diamond cuts include old single-cut, rose-cut and a diamond point.


  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Varied, moderate levels of inclusions, some surface reaching.

  • Two diamonds chipped.

  • Rubies are a pinkish red hue.

  • Length of fox 2.6cms.
