A late Victorian gold and silver ruby and diamond cluster ring.

Description

Condition Report

A late Victorian gold and silver ruby and diamond cluster ring. The oval-shape ruby, with old-cut diamond crossover surround and shoulders. Estimated dimensions of ruby 5.5 by 4.5 by 2.6mms. Estimated total diamond weight 0.50ct. Approximate ring size P1/2. Weight 4gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Band slightly out of shape.
  • One yellowish sapphire to surround, possible replacement.
  • Diamonds fairly well matched, one diamond opposite to the sapphire appears to draw a noticeable yellow hue.
  • Diamonds bright.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Diamonds with some small light and dark inclusions under 10x magnification.
  • Some diamonds showing some light abrasion to facet edges.
  • Ruby is a deep red hue, well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Ruby in good to fair condition with abrasions to table facet edges.

  • Replacement band stamped 18ct, partially indistinct.
  • Width 1.1cms.
