Condition Report

An early 20th century 15ct gold opal and demantoid garnet necklace. The opal cabochon graduated foliate line, with demantoid garnet accent scrolling stem spacers, to the belcher-link back-chain. Length 40cms. Weight 9.5gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition very good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Opals are well matched, with good play of colour, displaying a range of hues.

  • Demantoid garnets are a medium yellowish green hue, well saturated, with good clarity. Most appear vibrant with one appearing slightly more yellowy. Some surface reaching inclusions.
  • Demantoids in mostly good condition with minor abrasion, one with shallow chip to crown facets.

  • Stamped 15ct to clasp.
  • Length of gem-set section 11.1cms.
