Condition Report

An early 20th century 18ct gold diamond and gem-set brooch. Designed as a textured dog with baroque cultured pearl head, ruby eye and single-cut diamond collar, chained to a cultured pearl atop a bar. Length 2.3cms. Weight 9.9gms. With fitted case.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Baroque pearl, creamy white, with typical surface features.
  • Residue can be seen around ruby.

  • Diamonds fairly bright.

  • Estimated total diamond weight under 0.10ct.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Case is in fair condition, leather is heavily worn in areas. Some of the golden motif has worn away

  • Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
  • Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible.
  • Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.
