Condition Report

An early 20th century garnet brooch, the central cabochon garnet surrounded by ten further circular faceted garnets in a closed back setting. Length of brooch 1.8cms, Width 2.3cms.

Purchasing information
    The brooch is in good condition overall in keeping with age and use. Yellow metal mount is displaying general scratches, marks and tarnishing to the whole. Under 10 X magnification one can see some pitting and soft solder stains. The garnets are well matched in the setting and are quite a grey move colour. Under 10 X magnification one can see various inclusions dispersed throughout the stones along with some chips and deeper abrasion to the surface. The claws are quite worn but currently functioning - all stones are present and secure. The associated safety chain is a later addition.
