The Art of Heaven: The Holy Jewels of the Church

Wednesday September 21st 2022

In-Person & Live webinar

This talk examines the art collected by the Christian Church throughout history—perhaps the greatest curated collection in existence. From the Middle Ages, when bits of bodies were contained in sumptuous reliquary caskets made of crystal and gold, to saints housed in magnificent shrines adorned with some of the most expensive jewels of the era, we move forward to encounter more personal items worn by the most famous and infamous figures in Christian history, such as the papal tiara worn until 1978, and pectoral crosses, clasps and rosaries.
