A late nineteenth century imported Japanese silver box, the oblong form stood on four scroll bracket feet, engraved with floral sprays rising to the hinged cover embellished with chrysanthemums interspaced with examples enamelled in shades of yellow, orange, blue and purple. Hallmarked Spink & Son (John Marshall Spink), London import 1898. Length measuring 3 1/4 inches (8 cm), weight 4.3 ozt (134 grams).
