Fellows' to Host Series of Lectures for Gem-A Midlands Branch

Fellows' Antique & Modern Jewellery Specialist, Georgina Kettle who was also appointed chairman of the Gem-A Midlands branch earlier this year has organised a series of lectures that will be held at Fellows auctioneers.

Since the beginning of 2013, the branch has taken on a new lease of life with Georgina as chairman. Working in the trade for the past five years, Georgina joined Fellows after completing an undergraduate degree at Birmingham School of Jewellery in 2007 and achieving Gem-A’s diplomas in gemmology and diamonds in 2008 and 2009. Her particular passion for gemstones led her to being awarded the Doug Morgan Trophy for achieving the highest mark in the gemmology diploma for the Midlands region.

Speaking about her role as chairman Georgina said:

"Over the past 60 years the branch has been keeping Gem-A at the heart of an important center for our trade. Started by a group of keen Gem-A members looking for places to meet in Birmingham, the Midlands branch has grown massively from its small roots and I want to keep this tradition alive by bringing a renewed energy to the Midlands branch activities.”

A number of events have been lined up for Gem-A's lecture and seminar programme including talks from CW Sellors, John Clatworthy, lab specialist Steven Kennedy and specialist in organic gem materials, Maggie Campbell Pedersen.
