Philip Blacker

Philip Blacker, (b.1949). A limited edition (1/5) bronze entitled "Appleby Fair Gypsy Pony"

Starting his career as a steeplechase jockey, Blacker retired in 1982 to concentrate full-time on his enthusiasm for sculpture. In this capacity, he has received various commissions to create life-size bronzes of notable horses, such as Red Rum, Best Mate and Istabraq. For those interested, his works can be found at a number of racecourses, including Aintree, Kempton Park, Epsom, Cheltenham, Newmarket, Longchamps and Melbourne.

Two limited edition racehorse bronzes of Blacker's, featuring jockeys Willie Carson and Pat Eddery, were sold last year at auction.
