Anya Hindmarch, born in 1968 in Essex, is a British fashion icon known for her creativity, craftsmanship, and commitment to sustainability. At 19, she launched her business after being inspired by a leather duffel bag in Italy. By 1987, her bags were sold through Harpers & Queen, and she opened her first London boutique. Anya’s designs blend high-quality materials with a playful British aesthetic, which quickly gained international recognition in cities like New York, Tokyo, and Paris.

In 2001, she introduced Be A Bag, allowing customers to personalise totes with their own photos, supported by celebrities like Kate Moss. She also pioneered eco-friendly fashion, notably with her I’m NOT A Plastic Bag in 2007, which sold 800,000 units in one day, and later with collections made from recycled materials.

Anya also revolutionised retail with The Village in 2021, an immersive space combining boutiques, cafés, and workshops. Beyond fashion, she’s a trustee of major cultural institutions and an ambassador for Greenpeace.
