Valentino

Valentino, founded in 1960 by Italian designer Valentino Garavani, quickly became a symbol of luxury and sophistication. After studying fashion in Paris, Garavani opened his atelier in Rome, gaining international fame with his 1962 collection at the Pitti Palace. Throughout the 1960s and 70s, Valentino’s designs captivated royalty, socialites, and Hollywood stars, including Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, and Audrey Hepburn. Notably, Garavani created Kennedy’s wedding dress in 1968, cementing his iconic status. His signature 'Valentino Red' became synonymous with Italian elegance.

Valentino excelled in blending modern sophistication with classic beauty, expanding into accessories, menswear, perfumes, and bridal wear by the 1990s. After the brand was sold in 1998, Garavani remained involved until his retirement in 2008. Valentino’s iconic designs, particularly the striking 'Rosso Valentino' red, remain central to the brand’s identity.

Since 2016, under creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, Valentino has embraced a more modern and diverse vision. Piccioli introduced voluminous silhouettes, intricate embroidery, and vibrant neon hues, appealing to younger audiences. In 2010, he launched the Rockstud line, adding an edgy, modern twist to the brand’s romantic style. Known for dramatic cape dresses and bold colours, Valentino continues to blend tradition and innovation, offering timeless elegance while adapting to contemporary trends, solidifying its place at the forefront of luxury fashion.
