Vivienne Westwood
Vivienne Westwood, one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th and 21st centuries, is known for her role in shaping punk culture and her contribution to both fashion history and cultural movements. In the 1970s, she partnered with Malcolm McLaren to open the iconic ‘SEX’ boutique in London, which became the heart of punk fashion. Westwood’s designs, featuring ripped t-shirts and anarchic slogans, made her the unofficial queen of punk. In the 1980s, she transitioned to high fashion, drawing inspiration from historical styles and incorporating political and environmental themes into her collections. An advocate for sustainability, she encouraged consumers to "buy less, choose well, make it last." Westwood’s legacy as a British fashion icon continues today, with her family-run brand and her husband, Andreas Kronthaler, carrying on her visionary work after her passing in 2022.
