Lot Description

An early 20th century naval officers dress sword. The handle with lion shaped pommel, wooden grip and basket shaped hilt with applied crest of crown and anchor. The etched blade detailed 'Viva Portugal', the whole within leather scarab. Length of blade 32" (81.5cm)

Scarab has splits to the leather. Brass fittings have moved and have been re-glued, scratched and rubbed. The handle is very dirty and rubbed in places also has some pitting to it. The blade is very badly rubbed in places and has corroded through in places. The edge of the blade has some knocks and dents to it. The tassel is also badly worn. Overall the sword is in very poor condition
