Lot Description

An Art Nouveau silver mounted glass vanity bottle, hallmarked Birmingham 1903;  together with an Edwardian tortoise shell square box with silver inlay depicting two doves amidst floral foliage and a further glass jar with white metal lid. (3).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Vanity bottle and glass jar with lid are in fair condition, however tortoise shell box is in poor condition.

Vanity bottle, has had some detail rubbed away from the glass, with some minor discolouration of decorative motifs. Glass lid inside of silver lid is severely chipped. Silver lid has hallmarks to the back of the rim. Lid no longer sits flush against the rim. Other glass jar has some chips to the base of the jar.

Tortoise shell box has some of the shell peeling away from the box, with scratches to the surface. There is a crack in the shell at the back of the box close to the left hinge. Inlay on the top of the box appears to be lifting. When lid is opened one hinge is only attatched, the other is brokem. Tortoise shell is deficient in places on the upper lid. Scuff marks, cracks and an apparent restoration are evident in  the inside of the box. ANB M-R 25/4/17 are written in pencil on the upper lid.
