Lot Description

Victorian cranberry glass and silver basket of scroll open work form, engraved crest, swing handle and raised above four acanthus scroll feet. Hallmarked John Wilmin Figg London 1844. Height measuring 4 inches (10 cm), gross silver weight 10 ozt (311 grams).

The basket displays general scratches, marks and tarnishing. There are some repairs visible to the handle, with some loss of detail, a few cracks are visible to the silver around the body. The engraved crest has become rubbed. Small imperfections to seams and joins, but possibly as made. The glass appears in good overall condition, small minor nicks visible under close inspection. The hallmarks to the underside are clear and legible, also marked to the handle with the makers mark, duty mark and standard mark.
