Lot Description

Victorian silver vinaigrette made by Nathaniel Mills, the rectangular body with scroll edge and engraving, central crested cartouche with buckle surround and the motto 'Semper Fidelis', the case opening to reveal a gilt interior with scroll pieced grill. Hallmarked Birmingham 1855. Fitted on an associated curb chain, bolt clasp marked sterling. The vinaigrette measuring 25 mm by 34 mm.

The vinaigrette displays wear commensurate with the age and use with general scratches, marks and tarnishing. The gilt interior displaying general wear and discolouration, there is a little denting to the grill. The grill is stiff in position. the hallmarks are clear and legible. The associated chain is white metal, only the bolt ring clasp is stamped sterling. Total gross weight 22 grams.
