Lot Description

A pair of Victorian amethyst ear pendants circa 1880, each pear shape amethyst is in a claw setting surrounded by a mesh link design border and suspended from a later added ear fitting. Length of amethysts 2.4cms, width 1.2cms. Total weight 9.10gms.

The earrings are in overall good condition. The earring fittings have been added at a later date and are modern. The amethysts are well matched in colour, there is a chip to the outer facet of one. They are of medium purple, there is uneven colour distribution visible to the one when the stone is tilted and appears as angular zoning, the other has tiger stripe inclusions visible with 10x magnification. There are slight scratches and areas of discolouration to the outer borders.
