Lot 12

Lot Description

Victorian silver salver, the circular body engraved with various scrollwork, diaper and foliate motifs, the raised border with scroll and shell rim and the body raised above three bracket feet. Hallmarked Sheffield 1845, the maker possibly Henry Wilkinson & Co. Diameter measuring 10 inches (25.5 cm), weight 15.69 ozt (488 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The salver displays some wear commensurate with the age and use with scratches, marks and tarnishing. Overall the salver would benefit from a clean and polish with some heavier tarnishing visible particularly to the underside. The centre of the main body may have had a engraving removed as the silver feels thinner to this area. The hallmarks a little rubbed but clear and legible, the makers mark noticeably rubbed.
