Lot 153

Lot Description

An Edwardian silver mounted oval hand mirror, the silver back and handle ornately embossed with 'C' scrolls, flowers and foliage motifs, hallmarked M Bros, Birmingham 1901.  Together with an Edwardian silver handled shoehorn, hallmarked James Deakin & Sons., Chester 1903 and a silver handled button hook (marks partly obscured). (3).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All three items display general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  They all show some tarnishing.  The hand mirror displays various holes and cracks in the embossed decoration and there are also various dints and nicks in the metal.  There is a very large dent in the metal at the very top of the oval mount so that the embossed decoration in this area is damaged.  Hallmarks are clear and legible.  There are surface marks and scratches to the mirror and also some deterioration, especially around the edge.  The embossed silver handles on the shoehorn and button hook are in similar condition with general nicks and dints and some minor holes/cracks in the metal.  The steel parts on both are tarnished and worn.  The hook on the button hook is bent and the hallmarks are partly obscured on the handle (possibly Birmingham 1905).  Hallmarks are clear and legible on the shoehorn.
