Lot Description

Late Victorian silver heart shape pill box, the hinged lid embossed with scrolling foliage around a vacant heart cartouche, hallmarked Gourdel Vales & Co., Birmingham 1900;  together with a similar Edwardian example, hallmarked Crisford & Norris Ltd., Birmingham 1904.  Gross combined weight 13.5 grams.

Both pill boxes display general scratches, marks and tarnishing. Small dints visible to each. The gilding to the interiors has rubbed in areas an displays some discolouration, more so the Victorian example. The Edwardian example displays a split to the high point of the embossing on a scroll which surrounds the vacant cartouche. Overall the hallmarks are clear and legible. Remnants of sticky labels to the base of each.
