Lot 137

Lot Description

An early twentieth century silver sugar caster of baluster form, the detachable lid with pierced geometric and stylised foliate motifs, the whole on footed base.  Hallmarked Alstons' & Hallam, London 1927. Height measures 7 1/4 inches (18.5cm), weight 6.51 ozt (202.5 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The sugar caster displays general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  There are two noticeable dints to the pierced decoration on the lid and the inner rim is pushed in slightly on one side and therefore a little bit misshapen.  The foot rim is also slightly misshapen.  The hallmarks and maker's marks are rubbed but still legible.  There is also a full set of hallmarks to the inner rim of the lid, these are very clear.
