Lot Description

Pair of modern silver five-branch candelabra, each with central knopped column decorated in gilded relief with panels of formalised leaves and other foliate and classical motifs, the detachable upper part with four scrolled branches flanking the central branch, each with conforming decoration and with detachable sockets and drip-pans, the whole raised above a stepped octagonal sided base embossed with a gilded cherub's head to the four sides.  Hallmarked C J Vander Ltd., London 1994.  Maximum height measures 26 inches (66cm), gross combined approximate weight 555 ozt (17262 grams).

Total lot weight: No

The overall condition of the candelabra appears to be good.  There is light wear and light surface marks and scratches.  There are also some contact marks on the relevant pieces.  The lower column on one of the candelabra is missing the inner part of the socket, subsequently the upper section is very loose in the socket.  Full set of hallmarks to the underside of each base are clear and legible. The detachable sockets and drip-pans are struck with part hallmarks of the leopard head and lion passant.
