Lot Description

A mid Victorian micro-mosaic brooch, circa 1870. The central tesserae depicting two birds in flight within a series of floral motifs to the bead and rope-twist detail, suspending three micro-mosaic drops of similar design. Length 6.8cms. With fitted case.

The lot is in fair overall condition with light scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. There is a small micro-mosaic and wire section to the lower part of the brooch which is loose and broken into sections which may be re-applied. The lowest roundel has been repaired with a small amount of soft solder. The surmount fitting has been squashed slightly. There are light surface scratches to the vacant glass panel to the reverse. The box shows wear and some discolouration to the silk lining and scuffs to the outside. Touchstone tets as 18ct.
