Lot Description

Late Victorian silver mounted hand mirror, the bevelled, octagonal sided glass within an octagonal frame with floral and foliate pierced border with cherubs, the reverse and handle ornately embossed with flower head motifs, grotesque masks and scrolling foliage surrounding a central vacant cartouche, the whole in original fitted case.  Hallmarked William Comyns & Sons London 1896. Maximum height 11 1/2 inches (29.5 cm).

The cased hand mirror appears in good overall condition with general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. Obvious remnants of old polish visible to the recesses.  The case is in good working order but does display deterioration to the surface in areas and in particular the base. The hallmarks are in good condition although a little distorted with the remnants of polish and recesses of the embossing.
