The cake slice displays general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  There are some minor nicks and some of the scratches are deeper and more noticeable and there is some loss of detail to the engraved and punched decoration on the front of the slice.  There is also more wear to the tip of the slice, it has ground down slightly so that it is no longer pointed and it now feels a little rough to the touch.  The handle displays numerous small nicks and dints and is now slightly offset from the mount.  The crowned harp and the figure of Hibernia are visible but the date letter and any other marks are obscured and illegible.
