Lot Description

A selection of five silver spoons and a pair of stork scissors, to include an Irish George IV silver fiddle pattern salt shovel, a Russian silver spoon, three commemorative silver spoons and a pair of scissors shaped as a stork. Hallmarked William Cummins, Dublin 1827 and a selection of other dates around early twentieth century. Stork stamped 925. Gross silver weight 2.73 ozt (85 grams).

The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The Irish salt shovel has an engraved rat crest and initials to the back of the bowl. The bowl has a small split where it joins the handle. There are some heavier scratches to the bowl. The hallmarks show minor rubbing. Length 4 1/8 inches (10.4cm). The Russian spoon has some heavier scratches. The marks are poorly struck and rubbed, believed to be pre-1896 marks. Length 5 1/8 inches (13cm). The remaining spoons include a modified coronation spoon replica with throne terminal, a 1937 coronation spoon and a Bath spoon. Hallmarked Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings, London 1902, John Round & Son Ltd, Sheffield 1935 and Lee & Wigfull Sheffield 1936. The stork scissors are bent out of shape and do not work with the beak significantly dented.
