Russian silver snuff box with niello decoration.

Lot Description
Russian silver snuff box of oblong form with rounded ends, niello decoration depicting town landscape panels to each side, the inset hinged cover depicting a man on a rearing horse above a Cyrillic inscription. Various marks to the interior including 84 in a rectangular punch (other marks distorted but possibly a Russian Assay mark reading 1886?). Overall length measures 7.5cm, weight 62.8 grams.

Condition Report
The snuff box displays general wear and surface marks and scratches. The decoration is generally okay although there are some deeper more visible scratches in places, also some minor nicks and a small dint to one end. The hinged cover is in good working order. Various scratches, nicks and contact marks to the interior and gilding a little worn. Some of the marks to interior are distorted but some are still legible.
