Lot Description

A late Victorian 9ct gold seed pearl and garnet retractable pencil, circa 1870, the beaded quatrefoil seed pearl clusters inter-spaced and bordered by collet set garnets with suspension loop surmount and retractable pencil nib. Tests as 9ct gold. Full length 5.7cms. With fitted maker's case.

Overall fair to good condition, it would benefit from a clean, there are light surface scratches and noticeable small patches of tarnishing. All stones present. Retractable mechanism in good working order. Various solder joins becoming visible. There is minor surface abrasion and a couple of very small chips to the edge of the garnets. Nib stamped VS. Case quite worn, the interior is thread bare in places, the outer lid is half faded in colour.
