Lot Description

An early Victorian mahogany-cased twin-fusee bracket clock. Anonymous, circa 1840-50. Having a 7.5-inch cream-painted Roman dial with moon hands, the unmarked wire-driven movement with anchor escapement, having five knopped pillars between ogee shouldered plates, striking on a bell, the case having a humped top with carved flowers over canted corners and foliate scrollwork with berry terminals, the bombe sides with bevelled glazing, on a stepped base and block feet, 17", (43cm) high, sold with pendulum

Dial - Some rubbing and a few scratches, most noticeably below 1 o'clock and around winding arbours.

Movement - Crutch soldered. Some scratches and dints to backplate.

Case - front to back splits to roof. Slight losses to carved frieze. Lower edge of rear door missing. Some veneer chipping to base and to back edge.
