Lot Description

A 19th century mahogany apothecary box of rectangular shaped form. The hinged opening cover with inset brass military style folding handle lifting to reveal a compartmented interior containing three fitted glass bottles (originally six, now lacking three). The front with brass shield shaped escutcheon plate above a single fitted drawer with inset brass military style folding handle. 7.5" (19cm) height x 5.75" (14.5cm) width

The top of the hinged cover has a small chip and an area missing form its rear corner. The top edge of the drawer has slight damage that appears to have been caused by someone trying to force the drawer. The base of the box has been broken and re-glued. The stoppers to all bottles are stuck fast. the material to the inside is heavily worn and stained
