Lot Description

A gilt brass caryatid wall timepiece and matching aneroid barometer, circa 1900. Each modelled as a female figure holding an orb aloft, the first with timepiece having a 4.75" white-enamelled Roman dial with moon hands, the movement with vertically-mounted lever platform escapement, the matching white-dial barometer reading from 28 to 31 inches of pressure, with remarks, each classical-style figure with scroll terminal and shaped backing with palmette wings for wall mounting, 24", (61cm) high, (2).

Clock dial - small loss at III.  Movement stamped "58" otherwise plain.  Case - typical flaking and rubbish to gilding, general wear but no major damage.  Barometer - similar rubbing plus a casting crack to top of scroll foot.
