Lot Description

A 19th century French cast brass and white marble figural mantel clock, J.B.D., retailed by Lee & Sons, Belfast, having a 4" white dial with applied brass Roman chapters, the two-train movement striking on a bell, stamped LEE & SONS, BELFAST, and JBD within an oval, the breakfront case surmounted by a gilt brass figure of Sappho, in the manner of Pradier, 16" (40.5cm) wide x 17.5" (44.5cm) high.

Dial - excellent.  Movement - later bell, otherwise sound.  Case - rubbing to figure.  Crack to top of marble housing.  Front corners rounded off - possibly later as base not rounded, could indicate corner losses, otherwise sound.
