Lot Description

A good Victorian mahogany-cased GWR (Great Western Railway) wall clock. Having a 14" white-painted circular Roman dial inscribed "SANDOW GWR ST. IVES", the chain-driven single fusee movement with shouldered plates, four knopped pillars, anchor escapement and engraved subsidiary alarm dial with Arabic quarters, the hinged pine box back with shaped surmount and apron, the brass plaque to the side engraved "BR-WR 4737", the case with brass bezel and moulded surround, 19", (48cm) diameter.

Dial - brown staining and some pitting.
Movement - excellent.

Case - mahogany surround repolished. Some screws missing to hinged back. Minor scratch to surround but generally good - though box back is quite crude.
