Lot Description

A French late 19th century 18ct gold sardonyx, diamond and split pearl locket. The split pearl and diamond point sunburst to the circular concave sardonyx panel, within a diamond point fleur-de-lys surround. French assay marks. Length 5.4cms. Weight 21.7gms.

The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. There is minor tarnish/discolouration surrounding the applied decoration. The back of the locket has some very shallow, small dents. The inside of the back of the locket has a significant area of numerous light scratches and is missing any cloth lining or glass it might have had. The back of the front half of the locket retains its blue material and glass lining. The diamonds appear moderately bright and well matched, estimated total diamond weight 0.40ct. Individual diamonds too small to accurately assess colour/clarity grades.
