Lot Description

A Victorian cased composite set of four silver napkin rings, the circular form with bead and reeded rims, each engraved with numbers 1 to 4. Hallmarked Stokes & Ireland Ltd Birmingham 1880, matching example hallmarked Elkington & Co Birmingham 1880. Gross silver weight 3.4 ozt (104.52 grams).

All four napkin rings in good condition with some scratches, marks and tarnishing, more so to the insides. Join line becoming visible from time and wear. A few dints can also be seen but only on close inspection. All hallmarks are clear and legible with the makers mark on napkin ring 2 and 3 being slightly rubbed. The case is worn, with scratches and slight peeling to the sides, edges and base. Remnants of an old sticker is visible to the lid of the case. Blue lining inside has been stamped by the retailer Swinder & Sons, watch manufacturers & jewellers, 27 Temple street, Birmingham. Hinges and clasps both in good working order.
