Lot Description

An early 20th century gold multi-gem fly brooch. The pear-shape paste and old-cut diamond body, with similarly-cut diamond and synthetic ruby wings, to the knife-edge bar. AF. Estimated total diamond weight 0.35cts. Length 2.5cms.

Overall condition fair/poor. There are scratches to the brooch in keeping with overall wear. There is a section of lead solder central to the back pin, where the bar has broken and appears to have been repaired. There are chips to the paste and synthetic rubies, there is also abrasion to the cabochon eyes. There are chips to some of the diamond points visible with magnification. Principal diamond estimated Tinted colour, P1-P2 clarity, there is a surface reaching fracture to the table facet. All of the settings may need to be secured. The back pin and catch is secure. Unhallmarked. Weight 3.1gms.
