Lot Description

A possibly George III 18ct gold key wind pair case pocket watch by Tarts, London, the white enamel dial having black Roman numeral hour markers surrounded by an outer minute track with Arabic divisions, the cases, inner hallmarked London possibly 1773, the outer a gilt repousse case depicting diners at a table, fitted with a signed gilt full plate fusee and chain movement with square baluster pillars, verge escapement and decorated, pierced balance bridge. Outer case diameter 49mm. Watch A/F.

A gold pocket watch, movement is not functioning, appears that the top pivot is broken, dial is scratched and has small marks and a crack, and a significant chip and small hole by six o'clock, small chip at the centre of the dial, hands are marked and discoloured, glass is scratched, should polish out, would benefit from a clean, case has numerous dents and has medium scratches caused by general wear, areas of light pitting, small area of score marks on the edge of the case, probably caused when it was opened, area if discolouration and scuffing on the case back, wear and rubbing to the crown, outer case shows signs of wear and is lightly scratched.
