Lot Description

An early 20th century 15ct gold opal, ruby and split pearl pendant. The oval opal cabochon within a circular-shape ruby border, to the seed pearl foliate and bow surmount, may be worn as a brooch, together with an early 20th century 9ct gold belcher-link chain. One split pearl deficient. Pendant stamped 15ct. Chain stamped 9ct. Length of pendant 3.5cms. Length of chain 41cms.

Overall condition good. Light scratches, scuffs and bruising can be seen, in keeping with age. The brooch pin is a replacement. The opal has strong play-of-colour scattered throughout the stone, showing predominantly green and blue COLOURS but also orange and red colours. Light abrasions can be seen to the opals surface. The rubies are well matched with a medium to deep red hue. The central opal and ruby cluster is not original to the split pearl surmount.
