Lot Description

A late Victorian gold amethyst and split pearl cluster brooch, circa 1890. The oval-shape amethyst within a split pearl cluster surround. Estimated amethyst weight 20.95cts. Length 3.3cms.

The lot is in fair to good overall condition with light scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The pin, clasp and respective back plates are possible replacements with minor soft solder visible. The split pearls are well matched with a creamy body colour and minor variations in overtones. Some of the pearls have black paint-like dirt and some have discolouration and glue visible. Please see important notices in the back of the catalogue for Coloured Gemstones. The amethyst is a deep, slightly reddish purple hue with mostly even saturation and a moderately large, eve visible tiger-stripe inclusion near the culet. The amethyst has minor abrasions. Unhallmarked. Weight 12.2gms.
