Lot Description

Two horseshoe brooches. To include a 9ct gold brooch of equestrian theme, together with an early 20th century blue paste and split pearl horseshoe brooch. One with hallmarks for Birmingham, 1972. One unhallmarked. Lengths 6.2 and 3.8cms. Total weight 7.7gms.

Overall condition fair to good. The first brooch has some surface wear and scratches in keeping with general wear. There are nibbles to the edge of the horseshoe. The second brooch has some surface wear in keeping with age and wear, and is heavily tarnished. Pastes light blue, good condition with minor abrasion. Split pearls creamy white colour, with varying overtones. fairly good skins with some surface blemishes. Fair lustre. Nacre layers on some appear to be thin.
