Lot Description

An Erneman (Dresden) 'Tropical Klapp' focal plane camera. Early 20th Century, the rectangular teak body with brass furniture including stamped double-door viewfinder cover over tan leather bellows to an Ernostar lens, overall 6" wide x 5" deep x 5.5" fully open, (15cm x 12.5cm x 14cm), in fitted hide box with 2.5" x 3.5" (6.5cm x 9cm) teak-framed plates having sliding brass covers, accompanied by a handwritten instructional note dated 1934 and a printed retail card of Dolland & Aitchison Ltd.

Plates have ivory numbers to each side - one had 1 and 2, the other 5 & 6. The third (unnumbered) has a hinged brass back.
The camera appears to be in good original order without structural defects but as a mechanical item is untested and sold as seen.
